FireNet Chicago dispatches fires and fire related information to you (using our network of volunteer dispatchers) through a number of ways. One way is via an alphanumeric (worded) pager 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This pager is capable of receiving text or worded messages of up to 220 characters in length. You may also use the pager to receive numeric messages or to receive personal text messages from your home or work computer and the internet.
Another way is our network services, where we're able to send messages directly to you via text messaging to your own wireless device you might have including cellular phones with text messaging, blackberry devices, and email.
The FireNet Chicago fire-paging system was founded in September 1992 by firefighters and fire buffs interested in keeping abreast of fire related activity in the Chicagoland area. The system was designed with the firefighter and fire buff in mind and is continually maintained around that concept.
Besides offering firepaging, FireNet Chicago also offers our system as a relay services unit for commercial use either via our system or by using our sister company Emergency Dispatch Notification which is for the exclusive use of Public Safety and Municipalities.
These systems allow you to send a page into our network via the email or dial up modem, and our network will then send the page to your wireless device or email either individually or as a group (number of devices that need to receive the same message) based on the predetermined PIN that is assigned.
